What is Current Market Value (CMV) — and why does it matter?
CMV is the objective, maintenance-adjusted baseline used by appraisers, lessors and lenders in every commercial aircraft transaction.
It is
not the asking price — sellers typically price 15–30% above CMV.
It is
not the transaction price — buyers negotiate toward or below it.
⚠ In a typical narrowbody transaction, the gap between an uninformed offer and a CMV-grounded position is USD 1M – 6M. For widebody aircraft the spread is wider.
